Glider Flight Information

Located at the foot of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range only a few miles from Lake Tahoe, Soar Minden is a popular tourist destination for visitors to California and Nevada alike. Join us for a glider ride you will remember forever. Or buy a gift voucher to share this experience with a special friend!

We offer glider rides with FAA-licensed Commercial Pilots and Instructors. These glider ride packages are available for one or two passengers. Our gliders are TRANSPONDER equipped.

Our most popular rides are:

  • Lake Tahoe Ride, You and your pilot share the beautiful experience of silent flight while experiencing the breathtaking mountains of the Sierra with Lake Tahoe in the distance. $125 for one, $190 for two (approximately 20 minutes).
  • Mile High Flight, You and your pilot will be towed above the Sierra Mountain ridge and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley before releasing from tow approximately one mile above the Carson Valley floor. $155 for one, $230 for two (35-40 minutes).
  • Marlette Lake Flight, An even longer flight for you and your pilot north along the spine of the eastern side of the Sierra. $240 for one, $305 for two (45-55 minutes).
  • Emerald Bay Excursion, Our premier gliding experience takes you all the way across Lake Tahoe, around Emerald Bay and Fallen Leaf Lake, and back to a point high above the Sierra crest, where you will release and glide silently and effortlessly back over the Carson Valley. $295 for one; $435 for two.
  • Acrobatic Flight, You and your aerobatic-rated pilot will release from tow over Genoa Peak at 10,000, and perform loops, wingovers and other high-performance maneuvers. $225 for one person only (35-40 minutes).
  • Introductory Lesson You will fly with a certified flight instructor who will introduce you to the controls pilots use to manipulate the glider in flight. $180 for one only (35-40 minutes).

  • The Introductory Lesson Package A unique, educational, introduction to our training program. You will receive ground instruction and one hour of flight instruction with 1-3 aero tows as needed. (Rides over the lake are one tow only). $280 for one only
